The automatic programming and process simulation of NC tube bending is an effective measure to improve the processing efficiency. In this dissertation, techniques on automatic programming, modeling and simulation of bending process, collision detection and so on are studied deeply, supported by the project of defense basic research project - Process Modeling and Simulation Platform as well as Process Database Development. The main contents and achievements of the dissertation are as follows: (1) NC programming technology of tube bending is studied. The method of extracting geometric information of the tube through the topology of three-dimensional model in the ACIS environment is proposed, and the compensation algorithm is designed for rebound and elongation factors. NC automatic programming is achieved with the APT statement in tube bending defined. (2)By analyzing the structural and kinematical characteristics of tube bender, the geometric and kinematical models of tube bender and parameterization models of module are established. The movement of the tube bender's components is defined, and the simulation process model of NC tube bending is built with control logic and simulation models separated. So simulation of the whole tube bending process is realized. (3) Based on the collision detection technology of hierarchical decomposition of the bounding box, a collection of objects for collision detection is created, and the bounding box tree of tube and tube bender are constructed. So the collision detection in tube bending process is realized using the sampling method of fixed interval. (4) The architecture and the function structure of the system is established, the object-oriented models are built, and the TBPS (Tube Bending Process Simulation) system is developed in Visual C++ environment, using HOOPS and ACIS API, which verifies the research conclusions of the
