NC tube bending simulation can verify the manufacturability of tube by detecting collision among tube, machine, components and floor in bending process, thereby decreasing the bending experiment and prompting productive efficiency. In this dissertation, techniques on simulation modeling, simulation of bending process and collision detection are studied deeply, supported by the national defence foundation research "Process Modeling and Simulation Platform as well as Process Database Development". The main contents and achievements of the dissertation are as follows: ① Modeling of tube bending process Based on the structure and kinematic characters of tube bender, the scheme of modular modeling of tube bender is proposed, the geometric and kinematic models of tube bender and the parametric model of tube are established, the rapid module design in the simulation process is realized, which prompts the simulation efficiency. ② Simulation of tube bending formingBy analyzing the format of NC code, a data list is designed to extract the motion information, the mathematic models of tube location adjusting and matrix transforming are built based on graphical theory, and the moving order of tube bender's components is planned. ③ Collision detection in tube bending process The model of interference and collision is established, an algorithm based on AABB is proposed for basic collision detection of components that may collide, SolidWorks API is used to detect collision further, which improves the speed and accuracy of collision detection. ④ Software system development TBS (Tube Bending Simulation) system is developed based on SolidWorks2008 platform, using Visual C++ and SolidWorks API, which verifies the research conclusions of the
